What is the Peurbakkentocht?
Every year during the Leidse Lakenfeesten, dozens of decorated boats parade through Leiden's historic canals in the legendary Peurbakkentocht. Think wild costumes, creative themes, cheering crowds, and fierce (but friendly!) competition. This year, TeddyKids is entering the Company Category — and we want YOU on board!

Theme & Costumes
Our theme: "Teddy's Grand Voyage" — think Ghibli-inspired magic, dreamy landscapes, and whimsical characters. We'll provide base costumes and craft supplies for personalisation!
Food & Drinks
After we conquer the canals, the party continues! Join the crew at Brasserie De Poort for drinks, bites, and celebration. On TeddyKids, of course.
Prize Potential
We're competing for the legendary Aad van der Luit Trofee! Past winners wowed with creativity — and we've got the most creative team in Leiden. Let's bring it home!

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to know how to sail?+
No way! We have a professional boat operator. You just need to look fabulous, wave at the crowds, and have fun. Zero nautical experience required.
What if I'm not creative?+
We've got you covered! There will be a Pinterest mood board, a group brainstorm session, and craft supplies. You just show up — inspiration is included.
What if it rains?+
This is the Netherlands — we float on! Rain or shine, the Peurbakkentocht goes ahead. We'll have ponchos and good vibes. A little water never stopped a canal parade.
Can my family come watch?+
Absolutely! The canals are lined with great viewing spots. Grab a terrace seat on Nieuwe Rijn early for the best view. Wave at us — we'll be the ones looking amazing.
How do we win the Trofee?+
Creativity wins! The jury looks at overall presentation — costume, boat decoration, performance, and crowd engagement. Think bold, think fun, think Teddy!
